the space craft




evaluation
introduction
a lot learned in this project is unreal engine such as texturing in unreal and using the landscape tool. learning these tools is important due to them making up the mane aspects of using unreal.one problem facet is bump maps on the shuttles tank not showing up in unreal engine. i had a problem with the space planes uvw unwrap not matching correctly the fix was to re uvw unwrap the fuselage.
I would like to add more to the background of the scene more hangers and tanks so the ait filed and lunch pad look populated.
if i were to make this scene agen i would spend less time texturing in 3ds max due to bump maps not showing up as well in unreal and just use all collar map i would also focus on just one hanger and the craft in it.
context

the project was influenced by real life craft they inspired the first space plane.
the space shuttle was influenced in its dissine by the buran space shuttle as well as the US space shuttle.
i do feel the models are close to what i wanted. its just the way i constructed the scene is not what i imaged there is to little and detailed craft are in the background,
my understanding of the type of product i wanted has changed and became clearer the more time i put into the project once example is that closer to the end i made the space shuttle and spent way less time in 3ds max texturing it and more time in unreal tweaking the textures.

research
i decided what i needed to research from just what intrested me and the gaps i had with how a craft would look. i dont think i researched space craft lunch sites enoth because i spend to much time on the space craft this makes me belve that my research was not thorough.
my secondary research influenced the wing shapes the craft and the way that the engins are placed on the ssto.
my reacherch alloud me to make an unique craft that looks like it mite be able to fly a second example of this is the Arian space craft in the back witch has some elments of the arrian 5.
planning and production
to insure i planed to the best of my abbilty i made a time table to make sure i dident spent to long on a certain aspect.
i found just making shore i were on the currect stage on my time table quite affective.
i dont think my planing was that thorough and there were a lot of gaps in my planing.
there were a few times were i were a bit bhinde were i planed to be and had to try to cach up.
i would try to have a better planed timetable that would make it a bit harder for me to get distrakted and do a comply diffrent task.

problem solving
one of the major problems i encountered was the space shuttles tanck texture not showing proberly.
one of the problems i couldent overcome was texture related with the bump map on the sstos fuselage this has left the hull of the craft looking plane with not much detailed.
texturing is were i had most of my problems becuse unreal some times has trobble with textures.
i hade a lot of trile and error when it came to making the space crafts fuslarge and shape.

practical skills
i have developed a better skill at uvw unwrap and textutring using photo shop this can be seen on the wings of the ssto wich has flags and phome textured on it .
this skill will hellp me mske better qualty textures that will make my models look better qualty.
i best utlised the resorshes avlerbell to me by doing as much 3d worck at collige and doing a lot of blog worck at home were i dont hae unreal engin.

presentation
i chose to use a level in unreal engin to preent my idea.
i dont know what branding look i were going for i think its a mix of simulater and ksp.
my additernel materales were not that effective due to not having long to make them.
i did not get eny feedback.
the final product
one of the strengths of the final product is the space craft and the time i took in making them like the withering on the bottom of the ssto.
one of the areas of improvement for my final product is that i needed to make better environmental storytelling.
i changed how the craft would be vewed wich i think made the idea worse.
my finel prodecet is just a craft sitting in a hanger so i do think it resembles the start of as vircle bassed game.
